Washington State Elections

Election Day 2024 is Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

If you have not yet registered to vote, you may do so through the Washington Secretary of State's office. If you live in King County, you can register through the county's website. Please be aware of registration deadlines for both the Primary and General Elections.

Washington State conducts voting entirely through mailed ballots. Once you receive your ballot, simply drop it in a ballot drop boxes located around King County and other counties.  Please fill out your ballot soon after you receive it and either mail it back (no postage needed) or drop it in a drop box as soon as you can - the dedicated election workers will appreciate it!

Information about Politicians:
Across the top of their page there is a Search Box for entering a politician's name. You then click on the folders named 'BIO', 'VOTES', "POSITIONS", "RATINGS", "SPEECHES", and "FUNDING" to read a biography, a vote history, a list of positions, ratings by various political groups, links to transcripts of some of their speeches and their twitter feed, and their funding sources.

 

OpenSecrets: following the money in politics

OpenSecrets is a nonpartisan nonprofit independent research group tracking money in U.S. politics and its effects on elections and public policy. Their purpose is for Americans to use this knowledge to create a more vibrant, representative, and accountable, democracy. Who makes big political contributions in your state, where is the money coming from (view by city, zip code, and graphically with “money maps”)? To find a factsheet for each lawmaker, search for a zip code - or click on a state - then click on "View the elected officials who represent this state." You can also enter a zip code to find out who is making political donations in your local area, and who they are giving to.
