- ADA Home Page: Information and Technical Assistance on the Americans with Disabilities Act
Disability rights are civil rights. From voting to parking, the ADA is a law that protects people with disabilities in many areas of public life.
- National Council on Disability (NCD)
More than 20 major reports about disability issues highlight this site from the NCD, an independent federal agency that makes recommendations to the President and Congress.
- Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), U.S. Department of Labor
The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) is the only non-regulatory federal agency that promotes policies and coordinates with employers and all levels of government to increase workplace success for people with disabilities. ODEP also runs the Job Accommodation Network, which includes links to publications and web resources, and the ADA Library.
- Smithsonian: "EveryBody: An Artifact History of Disability in America"
Many stories and events related to people with disabilities never make it into the history books or shared public memories. The traditional way to present history is through language — numerous books, movies, scholarly articles, and journals explore the history of people with disabilities in that way. Artifacts and exhibitions express information in a different way. The National Museum of American History has been documenting the history of disability for over fifty years, and through this web exhibition, shares some of its collections on the topic.
