Currently registered Renton Technical College students, faculty and staff can borrow materials from many other Washington State Community and Technical Colleges.  See the attached file for a list of schools who have signed this Reciprocal Borrowing agreement.  You will need to provide valid identification and a current schedule or other validation of current registration.

To schedule a workshop, please contact us at librarian@RTC.edu or fill out this form. If you are emailing us, please let us know the following:

• Preferred date and time
• Send us a description of the research-related assignment.

We can also design in-class activities and assignments to encourage students to actively seek, evaluate, and apply information within the context of a research assignment. If you don't have an assignment, library faculty are happy to work with you to design one. Incorporate Information Literacy into Your Teaching

Place Course Materials on Reserve

To place a hard copy of the book, article, video, or other item on reserve, please:

• Bring the item to the Circulation Desk (you may also email a PDF if is an article)
  OR
• Communicate which item you wish to be pulled from the Library's collection
• Complete and return the Course Reserve form.
• Contact librarian@RTC.edu with questions.
• Allow at least 1 week to process.

Create Links to Articles (in EBSCO, etc.) For Your Students

Each database is a little different, but essentially you'll want to paste the proxy prefix to the front of the article URL, so that the article runs through the college's proxy server. Off-campus students will need to enter their current username and password to access the database/article. Click here for directions.

Find Affordable Textbooks (OER) for your Class

Open Educational Resources (OER) are "teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use and re-purposing by others." (The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation). Library faculty can help you find OER for your classes to help keep your students' textbook costs down. For more information, click here.
